MIRIAM HASKELL 2-Piece Suite Gold Gilt Brass Accents  Faux Baroque Mabé Pearls
I am offering you for consideration, another wonderful Miriam Haskell vintage suite. The pieces of this set dates CIRCA 1950’s – early 60’s.
This listing consists of a beautiful gold gilt brass 3-D layered wreath brooch and is accompanied by matching solitaire faux mabé pearl earrings.   The earrings are designed, each with a single button shaped faux mabé pearl cabochon mounted in gold gilt brass cage and held in place by spiky prongs.  They fasten with a paddle back clips.    The brooch is designed with faux baroque pearls in various sizes and a single faux  mabé pearl  wrapped in molded gold gilt brass leaves.  The pearls and leaves are all hand wired to a gold gilt filigree base, which is in turn hand wired to a beautiful Art Nouveau inspired gold gilt brass filigree base.
The brooch is round and 3-D shaped.  It is signed “MIRIAM HASKELL” on a cartouche on the underside.    The earrings are signed "MIRIAM HASKELL" on each paddle clip of the earring.
The design of the brooch is superbly beautiful.
The construction and finish of all pieces in this set is sturdy, compact and of the best quality and is consistent with similar Haskell pieces produced during this period.
The brooch is fairly heavy and weighs 25.20 grams, while the earrings each weigh 7.40 grams.
Dimensions:
Earrings ~  7/8” in
diameter and 1/8”
in thickness:   Brooch ~ 1 5/8” in diameter x ¾” in thickness.      All measurements are approximate and taken at widest points.
Condition:
Please note this set is pre-owned vintage costume designer jewelry. The brooch and earrings have been gently worn. The gold gilt surface of all the pieces are slightly tarnished with a warm Russian Gold hue.
Tiny spots of patina are noticeable only on magnification, and there is no corrosion, on any piece.   Tarnish and patina is consistent with nature of brass from which the pieces are made.  Additionally, the tarnish does add to the vintage charm of the pieces. The nacre on the faux pearls is a beautiful silvery white sheen, and there are no nicks or peeling on any. There are one maybe two very thin hairline scratches, noticeable only on magnification, and they are only superficial.
The pin of the brooch is straight, sharp, sturdy and fits into the roll over latch which fastens securely. There is a spot of metal wear on the pin, but this does not affect how it works.
The earring backs fit snug.   Structurally, all pieces of jewelry are fairly well preserved and I would say they are in “NEAR MINT VINTAGE CONDITION”, as the flaws are minor and consist of tarnish and patina and is consistent with the nature of the material from which they are made as well as age and wear.
NOTE:
All pieces in this auction are part of my personal collection of vintage Haskell costume jewelry.  They have been in storage for years and may need a small amount of cleaning.  Most of my pieces have been gently worn, a few are  unworn.   I do not clean my Haskell pieces as I am not an expert and some cleaning agents can be corrosive to vintage costume jewelry, particularly faux pearls.
