    EXTREMELY RARE & HISTORIC!
    1797 Spanish Colonial Eight Reales
    FROM THE
    Mexico City Mint.
A MUST-HAVE FOR ANYONE WITH A PASSION FOR THE RICH HISTORIC COINAGE OF MEXICO AND THE SPANISH COLONIES.
    THIS SHOULD BE OF INTEREST...
This Historic Silver Coin is well-traveled. As evidenced by the many Chinese Chop Marks placed there in certification of its weight, this coin has been all over the world. Minted in Mexico City, traded among merchants in the orient and recently purchased by me from a well-known dealer in Historic Baltimore, Maryland.
    BURIED TREASURE? MAYBE...
Judging by the natural filigree at he bottom of the obverse, it likely spent some of its life underground.
    ALSO OF IMPORTANCE...
It's important to note that Silver Spanish Colonial Pillar Coins were widely accepted in the English and French Colonies as Legal Tender. Even decades after the newly-formed United States of America purchased the Louisiana Territory from the French, coins like this were presented and accepted as a U.S. DOLLAR until the late 1850's.
THIS IS A GREAT HISTORIC KEEPSAKE!
It should be a nice pickup for a passionate enthusiast of Colonial Coinage.
    Good Luck!
