How did A A Milne come up with the idea for Winnie-the-Pooh?
Winnie-the-Pooh was based on a teddy bear owned by A A Milne’s son, Christopher Robin. Many of the other characters – including Piglet and Eeyore – were also based on Christopher Robin’s toys.
The setting for their adventures is inspired by Ashdown Forest, East Sussex, close to where Milne and his family lived.
