Whimsical Hammered Gold Matte Vintage Cat Pin by Jonette Jewelry Company
This fun cat pin/brooch is of a hammered gold tone with a matte finish. It really is pretty-the pictures do not do it justice. It depicts 4 acrobatic kitties climbing around what looks like 3 circles. This pin is about 3 inches in length and about 1 inch tall. It has a long pin closure. I do not know the metal content. It is marked Copyright JJ on the back, which stands for the Jonette Jewelry Company. I do not have the original packaging, nor does it come with a box.

Run by Abraham Lisker, the company “Jonette Jewelry” started its activities in 1935 under the name “Providence Jewelry Company”. However, in 1937, when Nathan Lisker joined his brother’s business, the company got name “Lisker & Lisker”. But seven years later, after the World War II, the two brothers decided to rename the company, they just combined the names of their parents, John and Etta. Thus, in the state of Rhode Island, appeared “Jonette Jewelry Co”, established in 1944. Since 1970, the company became known as JJ, and each piece was marked “copyright JJ. Unfortunately, after 62 years a successful family business, Jonette Jewelry Co. ended production in September, 2006.

The condition is used. It is in very good used condition. For the most part the matte gold finish looks very nice, but there are a few spots where it looks a little worn off. I don’t think it’s terribly noticeable due to the hammered look of the pin.
